Driver CPC Qualification

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is a legal requirement for most professional HGV drivers in the UK. It ensures that drivers have the necessary skills and knowledge to operate safely and efficiently on the roads.

There are two key aspects of CPC training:

• Initial CPC – For new drivers, this is a combination of theoretical and practical assessments needed to start your career.
• Periodic CPC – A mandatory 35-hour refresher training every five years to maintain your professional driving status.

Initial CPC

Initial CPC is taken after you complete any of our LGV Cat C (HGV Class 2) or LGV Cat C+E (HGV Class 1) Courses. Once you pass your practical driving exam, We’ll guide you through your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence, ensuring you are ready to begin your professional driving career.

Periodic CPC

Whether you are new to the profession or a seasoned veteran, all professional drivers must complete 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to keep your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) to drive a lorry, bus or coach.
